Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. In this role, you will play an integral part in the loan process by evaluating and verifying loan applications, assessing risks, and making loan approval decisions while working closely with loan officers and applicants to facilitate the mortgage process.

Skills

  1. Proven work experience as a Mortgage Underwriter
  2. Strong understanding of mortgage loan processes and regulations
  3. Familiarity with home loans and residential mortgages
  4. Proficiency in mortgage loan software and database systems
  5. Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  7. Ability to handle confidential information
  8. Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field (optional)


Experience

  1. FHA DE Certified, VA, Conventional, USDA, experience with Bond Loans, NON-QM
  2. 5-10 years of underwriting experience


Responsibilities

  1. Analyze financial data related to loan requests.
  2. Evaluate loan documents to ensure accuracy and completion.
  3. Perform risk assessments on potential loan recipients based on credit rating, borrowing history, and other specific risk factors.
  4. Prepare reports on assessment findings.
  5. Make loan eligibility decisions and approve or reject applications.
  6. Assist with technical underwriting issues and questions.
  7. Review and specify loan conditions as necessary.
  8. Record loan denials and specific basis for declining applications.
  9. Monitor and report noncompliance with loan covenants.
